Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanic 

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanic with experience troubleshooting and repairing all types of equipment including heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following tasks.

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Working knowledge of all transmission types, braking systems, hydraulics, and vehicle suspensions

  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

  • Completes fleet maintenance repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.

  • Washes vehicles and equipment.

  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles.

  • Assists with service calls for breakdowns.

  • Performs other maintenance related work as required.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

  • Experience with welding and metal fabrication preferred

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred

  • Ability to operate, maintain, and clean equipment

  • Ability to work with others to coordinate work

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner

  • Must be punctual and dependable

  • Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Valid and current CDL

  • Ability to weld and use an oxyacetalene cutting torch

  • Be capable of operating computerized diagnostic equipment

  • Determine machine or vehicle condition through inspections and tests; identify damaged, worn, and broken parts and correct deficiencies by removing, repairing, and replacing as necessary.

  • Keeps shop/repair equipment operating by following operating instructions; maintain supplies as needed; perform preventative maintenance.

  • Contain costs by using warranties where available and by evaluating service and parts options.

  • Must have a smartphone or tablet for timecard submittal

  • Must have a clean driving record

  • The ability to work varied hours including early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.​

 

Laborer

Under direction of the crew leader, laborers will typically work on an asphalt paving crew, prep crew, or pavement maintenance crew. This position is full-time seasonal working May through November (weather permitting). Average workdays are usually 10-12 hours but at times may be shorter or longer, requiring overtime and working weekends.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Shoveling, raking, luting, and trimming
• Job clean-up
• Operate small equipment and other tools
• Traffic Control
• Grease and help load/unload equipment
• Other miscellaneous job tasks directed by management

Qualifications/Skills
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Construction or physical job experience preferred, but not required
• Valid driver's license required
• CDL preferred, but not required
• Ability to work as a team member
Job Requirements:
• Ability to understand and follow safety requirements and company policy
• Ability to work from approximately April 15th to November 15th
• Smart phone or tablet
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Be able to work in construction environments, including traffic, heat, cold, etc.​

Pulverizer Equipment Operator

Summary: Under the direction of the Supervisor, the operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the pulverizer and secondarily the milling machines.
 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Operate equipment as directed for pulverizing or milling highways, roads, streets, parking lots, and driveways.

  • Work with several types of pulverizing or milling equipment 

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance.

  • Perform or assist in repair work.

  • Able to read plans or blueprints to understand project goals incorporating grades, grade stakes, and slopes and transitions.

Qualifications    

High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Ability to operate, maintain, and clean equipment

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening to be hired

  • Ability to work with others to coordinate work 

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner

  • Must be punctual and dependable

  • Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record

  • Ability to weld and torch

  • Be capable of operating computerized equipment

  • Must have a smartphone or tablet for timecard submittal

  • Class A CDL preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in pulverizer or milling operation preferred

Chipseal Crew Leader

Summary: Pitlik & Wick, Inc., is currently seeking a motivated and talented person to lead, work with and coordinate our Chipseal Crew. The ideal candidates must be skilled in the areas listed below, as well as being honest, confident, and enthusiastic.
 

Skills and Responsibilities:
•    Experience in chipsealing and road and highway construction projects.
•    Crew Leader will be responsible for leading and assisting the crew (up to 6 employees) to make sure projects are completed with in a timely manner.
•    Monitor performance and productivity of their crew, swiftly taking action to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency in that order.
•    Lead and assist crew in maintaining equipment.
•    Complete all required paperwork to properly track daily production and crew responsibility.
•    Anticipate problems in advance and problem solve in a timely manner to keep jobs moving forward.
•    Maintain working relationships with employees, managers and customers.
•    Applying for this position means that you will be not only in a leadership role, but will require working alongside the crew in a physical manner that is consistent with the industry.
•    Other duties as assigned by management team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
•    Leadership Experience
•    Must be able to work overtime/weekends as required
•    Managing various size projects from start to completion
•    Safely operating various equipment
•    Maintain a clean and safe workplace
•    Able to communicate and follow instructions
•    Must have a valid WI drivers license and clean DMV record
•    Valid CDL
